BDO, an accountancy and business advisory firm, has appointed Kyla Bellingall, its Midlands Regional Managing Partner, to the new national Leadership Team. This decision comes after Mark Shaw was elected as the firm’s new Managing Partner, with both appointments taking effect from 1st October 2024. Kyla’s new role in the leadership team will focus on regions, markets, and sectors, while she continues to serve as Regional Managing Partner in the Midlands.
With over 25 years of experience, Kyla began her career as a school leaver apprentice and joined BDO as an Audit Partner in 2015. She has been instrumental in developing a not-for-profit sector group in the Midlands. Kyla previously held the position of Head of Audit for the Midlands, where she successfully navigated challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and drove revenue growth of 75%.
Under Kyla’s leadership as Regional Managing Partner since July 2022, BDO’s Midlands practice has seen significant growth, including the addition of nine new partners and revenue growth of over 40%. The team now consists of over 500 professionals working across offices in Birmingham and Nottingham city centers.
In response to her new role, Kyla stated, “After leading BDO’s Midlands team for two successful years, I am thrilled to take on this additional responsibility, ensuring our regional offices are represented at the highest level within the firm. I have ambitious plans for the Midlands practice, with further investment scheduled for later this year.”
Kyla emphasizes the firm’s overall growth and success, particularly within its core market of mid-sized, ambitious, and entrepreneurial businesses, which have demonstrated resilience during challenging economic times. Looking ahead, Kyla looks forward to collaborating with Mark and the new Leadership Team as BDO continues to support businesses across the UK, leveraging its heritage and preparing for the future.
