ABP has appointed Jonathan (Jon) Lewis as its new Chair, succeeding Dr. Phil Nolan who has decided to step down from the position. With decades of business leadership experience, particularly in major infrastructure sectors such as energy, engineering, and construction, Jon brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. Having served as CEO at AmecFosterWheeler plc and Capita plc, where he oversaw growth and transformation, Jon is currently a Non-Executive Director at Equinor. His appointment is set to take effect after ABP’s Board meeting in September, with Phil stepping down at that time. Both Phil and Jon, along with the Board, will collaborate ahead of this transition to ensure a seamless handover.
Expressing his excitement for joining ABP, Jon emphasized the crucial role that ports play as gateways for global trade and facilitators of the energy transition. He looks forward to working with the Board and Executive Team to drive the company’s strategic vision. Phil Nolan, reflecting on his time as Chair, commended Jon’s leadership skills and expressed confidence in ABP’s future under his guidance. Henrik L. Pedersen, CEO of ABP, acknowledged Phil’s successful tenure and expressed gratitude for his leadership during challenging times, including the COVID pandemic and Brexit. Despite these hurdles, ABP has continued to prosper, with Phil’s support in driving ambitious investment and green energy initiatives.
Moving forward, the company anticipates Jon’s contributions as Chair, leveraging his expertise in infrastructure and capital projects delivery, as well as his involvement in the energy transition. His appointment aligns with ABP’s commitment to sustainable growth and positions the company for continued success in the future.
