The Nottinghamshire County Council has announced a new £8.6 million school infrastructure improvement program as part of its annual school building improvement initiative. The project, designed and executed by Arc Partnership, will benefit twelve schools with various upgrades such as roof replacements, drainage improvements, and energy-efficient lighting and boiler upgrades.
Councillor Keith Girling, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Asset Management, emphasized the importance of investing in schools’ infrastructure to provide students with suitable learning environments. The prioritization of schools in need of drainage system improvements, particularly those affected by recent flooding, demonstrates the council’s commitment to ensuring safe and efficient school facilities.
The ongoing investment plan has already resulted in improvements to 67 school buildings since 2021, with a focus on enhancing energy efficiency and reducing operating costs. Local contractors will once again play a key role in executing the upcoming improvements, supporting the local economy.
Scheduled improvements for the 2024/5 academic year include significant upgrades to schools such as James Peacock Infant school, Pierrepont Gamston school, Woods Church of England Foundation Primary, Manor Park Infant and Nursery, Pinewood Infant and Nursery, Walkeringham Primary, North Wheatley school, Berry Hill Primary and Nursery, High Oakham Primary, Underwood Church of England Primary, Jacksdale Primary and Nursery, and Maun Infant and Nursery.
Each school will receive tailored upgrades to enhance infrastructure, address specific issues, and improve the overall learning environment for students. With a focus on efficiency and sustainability, the council’s commitment to investing in school infrastructure reflects its dedication to providing high-quality education facilities for the community.
