The University of Salford Business School will launch a cutting-edge Esports Lab this summer, just in time for the new academic year. The lab has been purpose-built to accommodate the digital requirements of students studying the University and Greater Manchester Institute of Technology’s Higher National Diploma (HND) Esports Business Management program. It boasts industry-grade broadcasting equipment, an esports suite for teaching and learning, and a tournament arena. The lab also includes 23 Yoyotech i9 RTX Esports Gaming PCs equipped with Intel i9 Processors and NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super Graphics Cards, among other industry-leading technologies.
According to Iain Earle, Program Leader for Esports Business Management at Salford Business School, “Esports is a rapidly growing and ever-evolving sector, and with the latest cutting edge technology integrated into the Lab, we have made a considerable investment to really elevate our student experience in this space, while ensuring access to industry-grade equipment.”
Salford Business School’s HND Esports Business Management program has been developed in collaboration with industry leaders to build the skills required by professionals to succeed in the esports industry. Throughout the course, students will explore the esports industry’s ecosystem, gain expert perspective of the environment, and develop an awareness of the ethics and integrity that sustain the sector. The program also provides opportunities to network and share best practices with esports educators and learners from GMIoT.
The global esports market is expected to generate £3.41 billion in revenue this year, with a compound annual growth rate of 7.1%. The figure is forecasted to reach £4.52 billion by 2028. The University’s investment in cutting-edge technology and innovative spaces reflects its commitment to ensure its graduates remain fully immersed in the latest technology disrupting the sector and can pursue fulfilling and rewarding careers.
