Scolmore Group has recently secured a 51,000 sq ft space at IM Properties’ Mercia Park scheme, located at junction 11 of the M42. This significant expansion will allow the company to accommodate its future growth effectively.
As a leading manufacturer of electrical accessories, lighting, home automation, security, and cable accessory products, Scolmore Group comprises various well-known brands such as Click, Ovia, Unicrimp, ESP, and Sangamo. Established in 1989 in Tamworth, the family-owned business currently employs over 350 individuals and is looking forward to utilizing its new state-of-the-art logistics center to house its expanding collection of lighting products from the Ovia division.
The Mercia 51 building, certified as Net Zero Ready and boasting a BREEAM Excellent rating along with an EPC A rating, is designed to help Scolmore Group meet its sustainability goals. Scheduled to open in September, the facility features 10 active EV charging spaces, with provisions for an additional 30, and storage for up to 12 cycles.
According to Mike Collins, Managing Director of Ovia, this move signifies a significant step forward for Scolmore Group and exemplifies its commitment to the future. The proximity to DSV and Jaguar Land Rover’s global logistics center at Mercia Park, alongside its excellent connectivity to the M42 and wider motorway network, positions the company for efficient stock movements and operations.
Harry Goodman, development manager at IM Properties, expressed satisfaction in attracting another local occupier and noted the positive impact of Scolmore Group’s expansion on the community. With Mercia 51 meeting Net Zero standards in construction and being Net Zero Ready, it aligns with the company’s sustainability frameworks and supports the local economy.
Overall, the development at Mercia Park underscores the commitment of Scolmore Group to growth, sustainability, and community involvement, setting a high standard for future endeavors.
