Ashfield District Council’s Planning Committee has approved plans for a state-of-the-art distribution and manufacturing skills centre in Ashfield. This flagship project, known as the Automated Distribution and Manufacturing Centre (ADMC), is part of the Council’s £62.6 million Towns Deal.
Located on Lowmoor Road in Kirkby, the ADMC aims to promote the uptake of automation and advanced manufacturing practices among businesses in the region. By enhancing productivity and creating more high-skilled job opportunities, the centre will play a crucial role in driving economic growth.
Working closely with businesses, the ADMC will demonstrate how technology can optimize operations, provide hands-on testing for customized solutions, and offer training programs on utilizing and maintaining automated systems. Additionally, the development of a technology park within the site is expected to attract significant inward investment and foster economic prosperity for Ashfield residents.
Cllr Matthew Relf, Executive Lead Member for Growth, Regeneration, and Local Planning, expressed excitement about the project’s potential impact: “The ADMC will revolutionize the local business landscape, enabling firms of all sizes to streamline operations and create higher-paying job opportunities. This initiative will not only boost investment in Ashfield but also establish a legacy of industry, technology, and innovation. As part of our broader regeneration strategy, this project will enhance Ashfield’s appeal as a dynamic place to live, work, study, play, and visit.”
