The approval has been granted for a new Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Nottingham, located at 2 Queens Road. The application, submitted by CMPG on behalf of Zen Nottingham, includes a building that will stretch up to six and nine storeys. The scheme will consist of 31 studios and 50 cluster beds, with the cluster beds arranged as 10 five bed cluster flats.
“On the ground floor, there will be communal space, a laundry room, plant rooms, and a bin store. Additionally, a service yard is planned on the eastern side of the building, which will feature temporary parking spaces for loading and unloading, as well as a cycle store. A patio area will be provided at the rear of the site, along with an outdoor roof terrace.
The current site is home to a vacant, two-storey building that was once a cinema auditorium. Previously, planning permission was granted for a nine and six storey building that would offer 39 apartments and two ancillary commercial units at the same site. The new PBSA scheme closely resembles the previous plan but now focuses on providing student accommodation instead of apartments and eliminates the ground floor commercial units.”
