The prestigious contract to construct a new £15m community health services center in Belper, Derbyshire has been awarded to Henry Brothers Construction. The state-of-the-art facility, aimed at achieving high environmental standards for long-term sustainability, will replace the former Belper Clinic on Derby Road, as part of the Babington Hospital site.
Commissioned by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, Midlands-based contractor Henry Brothers will oversee the development, incorporating sustainable features such as solar panels and locally sourced materials. The modern health hub will house 15 consulting rooms, six treatment rooms, and various healthcare services including nursing, midwifery, and physiotherapy.
Designed by Race Cottam Associates, the facility will consolidate all existing outpatient and clinical services at Babington Hospital to provide comprehensive care to the community. Ian Taylor, managing director of Henry Brothers Construction, expressed pride in the appointment and emphasized the company’s experience in delivering similar projects.
Following approval from Amber Valley Borough Council, the construction phase, expected to last 66 weeks, is set to commence soon. The project, executed under the Pagabo Framework, involves a skilled team including Capita, Eastwood Consulting Engineers, and EP Consulting to ensure excellence in design and execution.
Jim Austin, executive director at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, highlighted the significance of the project in enhancing healthcare services for the residents of Belper and beyond. With a focus on sustainability and innovation, the new health hub is poised to become a vital asset in the local community, delivering cutting-edge healthcare facilities for the 21st century.
