Nottingham City Council is taking steps to finalize the sale of the land on which Nottingham Forest’s City Ground is located. During a recent meeting of the Executive Board, it was unanimously approved to make the freehold available for purchase by the club. According to council documents, the disposal process is targeted for completion in 2024/25.

Following an announcement by Nottingham City Council’s leader, Councillor Neghat Khan, it was revealed that the council has tentatively agreed on terms for the sale of the land to Nottingham Forest. This decision enables the club to move forward with its ambitious plans to enhance the stadium facilities, while also generating a substantial amount of funding for the council.

However, Nottingham Forest has emphasized that their commitment to acquiring the freehold is contingent on securing the necessary permissions to proceed with their proposed stadium expansion, premier hospitality areas, and associated property developments. The approval for these plans lies with Rushcliffe Borough Council.

This update comes after discussions for a lease extension came to a standstill earlier this year, as the council sought a higher sum for the lease agreement.
