Ashgates, a Derby-based accountancy firm, has officially announced a strategic merger with DJH, an accountancy group headquartered in Stoke-on-Trent. This partnership marks a significant expansion for DJH, as it now gains a presence in the East Midlands in addition to its existing 10 offices across the Midlands, North-West, and Yorkshire regions.

With the merger, Ashgates clients will gain access to a wide range of specialized services offered by the DJH group, including enhanced R&D and capital allowances teams, commercial funding, corporate finance, estate planning, and HR support. Directors Tony Lymn, David Newborough, Steve Martin, Ian Johnson, and Gavin Booth will continue to lead the Ashgates team and retain their roles as shareholders. Additionally, Jonathon Williamson will be promoted to Director after advancing his career with Ashgates, and Jon Wolliter will continue to oversee Ashgates IT services.

Tony expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to join forces with DJH. This collaboration will enhance both firms’ capabilities and provide our clients with access to specialized services.” Scott Heath, CEO of DJH, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the alignment in cultural values between the two firms and the shared commitment to prioritizing team and client satisfaction.

As part of the merger, Ashgates will maintain its name and brand identity, with its offices remaining at 5 Prospect Place, Pride Park. The partnership will also bring additional support to Ashgates in areas such as HR, recruitment, and training and development, further strengthening the firm’s internal operations.
