Approval has been granted for the continuation of the development of Airfield Business Park in Market Harborough. Leicestershire County Council’s business park, situated adjacent to the roundabout on the B6047 Harborough Road, has achieved full occupancy by businesses since the initial move-ins in December 2019. The upcoming phase of the project is poised to stimulate the local economy and generate revenue for the authority. At their recent meeting on Thursday, Leicestershire County Council’s Development Control and Regulatory Board sanctioned an application for 11 business units and two drive-thru food & drink outlets. Similar to previous phases, the commercial units will vary in size to accommodate diverse business requirements. Already, four businesses have expressed interest in securing occupancy, with plans for a Costa Coffee drive-thru and three commercial units. Notably, Bramble Foods, a fine foods manufacturer and distributor employing over 150 individuals in Market Harborough, will be leasing a 67,000 sq ft unit to support their expanding operations. The ongoing development, overseen by the county council, prioritizes sustainability by incorporating features like solar panels, electric car charging points, insulation, and efficient construction methods. Councillor Lee Breckon, cabinet member for corporate resources, expressed enthusiasm for the successful progress of Airfield Park and the forthcoming third and final phase. Anticipating increased business interest and job growth in the area, he highlighted the economic benefits that Airfield Business Park and Market Harborough continue to offer.
