At a recent Executive meeting, Bolsover District Council decided to allocate £15m from the Regeneration Fund towards various projects across the district. This includes £5m designated for public realm enhancements in Bolsover town and key town centers. The improvements will focus on landscaping, street furniture, signage, and market squares to create inviting and functional spaces.

Furthermore, £1m will be utilized for improving facades and shop frontages in Bolsover, Clowne, South Normanton, Creswell, Whitwell, Pinxton, and Tibshelf to attract more visitors and boost footfall. Additionally, £4.3m has been earmarked for the purchase and renovation of prominent buildings in Bolsover town, generating creative, business, and community facilities.

Pinxton will receive approximately £700k for the refurbishment of the former Church Hall to provide a community meeting space, multi-purpose hall, community café, outdoor seating, and a play area for children. In Shirebrook, £4m will be invested in constructing a Green Skills and Retrofit Skills Centre, along with a new Market Place pavilion to enhance the visitor experience and increase footfall.

Chief Executive Karen Hanson emphasized the council’s commitment to distribute the funds strategically across various areas within the district. She highlighted the importance of not only improving aesthetics but also providing tangible benefits for businesses and residents by offering opportunities for skill development and career advancement.
