North Northamptonshire Council has introduced two grant schemes aimed at assisting businesses in enhancing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. The NNDecarb business grant scheme offers grants of up to £5,000 to businesses, covering up to 50% of project costs for installing low carbon and energy-efficient measures. In addition, the NN2NZ Green Transition Grant scheme provides capital grants ranging from £5,000 to £50,000 to support business resilience and growth. This scheme specifically targets decarbonization and green research and development initiatives contributing to sustainable practices and carbon emission reduction.
To apply for these grants, businesses can contact ukspf@northnorthants.gov.uk for an application form. Assistance with proposals and applications is available from Electric Places. Cllr David Brackenbury, the council’s Executive Member for Growth and Regeneration, emphasized the importance of supporting businesses in their green initiatives to promote growth and reduce carbon emissions effectively.
Cllr Harriet Pentland, the council’s Executive Member for Climate and the Green Environment, highlighted the variety of carbon-reducing measures eligible for funding, such as solar panels, energy-efficient equipment upgrades, and heat pumps. These small changes can make a significant long-term impact towards achieving carbon neutrality in North Northants.
Leader of North Northamptonshire Council, Jason Smithers, encouraged businesses to apply for the grant schemes before the deadlines. Applications for the NNDecarb business grant scheme are due by 5pm on Friday 16 August 2024, while applications for the NN2NZ Green Transition Grant scheme must be submitted by 8am on Monday 2 September 2024. Grant schemes like these are highly sought after, and the council is eager to support projects that can swiftly make a positive impact.
