Revised plans put forth by Wavensmere Homes and Wilson Bowden Developments for a significant new apartment project in Derby have received a recommendation for approval. The proposal involves constructing 195 residential apartments and a café on land off Full Street.
Furthermore, the development will incorporate residential amenity space, a gym, private and public landscaping, as well as car and cycle parking, and a new vehicular access on Full Street. Situated on the eastern side of Full Street, the application site is the last remaining development plot of the former Police Station, which has remained vacant since its demolition in late November 2013.
Although the site currently holds planning permission for an office development, a lack of market certainty and interest in office spaces has led to its vacancy for over a decade. Recent years have seen the site suffer from fly-tipping and vandalism, but more positively, it has also been designated as a street art location.
The proposal is scheduled for consideration at a planning meeting on 11 July.
