Associated British Ports has announced the appointment of Laura Wood as the new Head of Commercial, tasked with leading the team responsible for maintaining strong customer relationships vital to Keeping Britain Trading at the four Humber ports of Grimsby, Immingham, Goole, and Hull.
Previously serving as Business Development Manager across ABP’s portfolio, Laura focused on exploring opportunities in the energy transition, future fuels, and products. This role required close collaboration with senior stakeholders from both business and government to develop partnerships for advancing projects in areas such as alternative fuels and carbon capture.
Simon Bird, Regional Director of the Humber, expressed enthusiasm about Laura joining the team, citing her wealth of expertise and established background in the ports sector as valuable assets. He emphasized that Laura’s appointment marks a significant step towards enhancing the Commercial team at ABP.
Laura shared her excitement about leading the dynamic Humber Commercial team, highlighting their experience across various sectors and dedication to delivering customer solutions. She also looks forward to collaborating with the property team to optimize the port’s capabilities in offering supply chain solutions that leverage ABP’s extensive land holdings, operational expertise, and port infrastructure.
Reflecting on her previous roles, Laura mentioned her involvement in the hydrogen-fueled Terberg terminal tractor project at the Port of Immingham, which received funding support from various entities. Prior to ABP, Laura contributed to boosting freight volumes at Peel Ports’ Port of Liverpool, as well as gaining experience at Frontier, a prominent UK crop production and grain marketing business.
Driven by a strategic long-term perspective, Laura aims to integrate her green energy expertise to create sustainable opportunities for ABP and its customers to meet their targets effectively.
