Joanna Brigham has been announced as the new Chair of Boston Town Board. A highly experienced senior leader, Joanna has extensive experience in Chief Executive and Director roles across a variety of organizations. She succeeds former Chair Neil Kempster, who decided to step down.

Transitioning into her new role, Joanna’s appointment coincides with a new phase for the Boston Town Board. The Board has been repurposed to oversee the implementation of the £20m Long Term Plan for Towns funding allocated to Boston. This funding complements the £21.9m Town Deal investment, which is currently being utilized for transformative projects in Boston, such as the Mayflower learning center at Boston College and upgrades to the Geoff Moulder Centre.

Expressing her excitement for the future, Joanna, former Chief Executive of UK Shared Business Services Ltd and CEO for the Scottish Police Services Authority, emphasized the importance of continuing the progress made while outlining plans for a long-term strategy for Boston.

Neil Kempster, who has been Chair of the Boston Town Board since June 2020, reflected on his time in the role, acknowledging the board’s expansion and successes in securing additional funding for Boston’s development. As he steps down from the position, Neil looks forward to remaining on the board and supporting Joanna and the team in their future endeavors.

Councillor Anne Dorrian, Leader of Boston Borough Council, commended Neil for his leadership over the past four years and expressed gratitude for his continued involvement as a board member. As the Board transitions into overseeing the Long Term Plan for Towns, Anne looks forward to Neil’s continued contributions based on his wealth of experience.
