Nottingham City Council has formulated a strategic blueprint outlining its path towards achieving financial sustainability, resilience, and improved operational efficiency. The Council’s Improvement Plan, set to be reviewed by its Executive Board on 16 July, addresses the issues that led to the appointment of Commissioners by the Government. Developed in collaboration with the Commissioners, this Plan will steer the required improvement efforts across the Council over the next two years.
Implementing the Plan will result in a Council that undergoes significant transformation in its appearance, functionality, and overall operations. It will empower the Council to deliver a clear direction and purpose for Nottingham, ensuring a focused vision guides organizational transformation, budget planning, staff development, and future city priorities.
Furthermore, the Council is committed to achieving financial sustainability by living within its means, delivering a balanced budget and sustainable financial plan through effective cost-saving strategies, robust financial management, and enhanced commercial practices. Additionally, the Council aims to streamline its operations for improved efficiency and productivity, strengthening governance, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and enhancing service delivery through modernized business processes and systems.
