Adlington Retirement Living, a company specializing in designing, building, and operating Independent Retirement Communities, has recently submitted plans to construct 96 new apartments on the site of the former Mary Gee Halls of Residence in Leicester.
The proposed retirement community will feature one, two, and three-bedroom apartments tailored for individuals over 60 years old. These apartments will offer a safe and secure environment, with each unit equipped with a patio or walk-out balcony.
Dr. Ed Gladman, Chief Executive of Adlington Retirement Living, stated, “Our goal is to enable the older generation to live long, happy, and healthy lives. We achieve this by establishing top-quality retirement communities in secure environments and providing homeowners with engaging activities, extensive shared amenities, and beautifully landscaped private gardens.”
The site on Ratcliffe Road has remained vacant since its closure in 2018. The proposed development, which focuses on design, will be a valuable addition to the Stoneygate Conservation Area, harmonizing with the existing architectural style of the surrounding buildings.
Apart from their individual apartments, homeowners will have access to communal facilities such as gardens, a hair salon, a therapy suite, a homeowners’ lounge, and a restaurant.
