Serco, an international provider of services to governments, has appointed Tom Read as its new group chief digital and technology officer. Read, who formerly served as CEO and director general of the Government Digital Service in the Cabinet Office, will oversee digital and cybersecurity strategy, IT infrastructure, and the adoption and scaling of new technology platforms. Mark Irwin, group CEO of Serco, expressed confidence in Read’s expertise and visionary approach. Read stated that he was impressed with Serco’s commitment to developing, embracing, and embedding digital and technological solutions.
Read brings a wealth of experience and proven track record in driving digital transformation and technological innovation across various industries. He previously held the chief digital officer position at the Ministry of Justice, as well as chief technology officer roles at the Department of Business and Cabinet Office. Additionally, he served as head of applications at Guardian News & Media and as a technical specialist at Lloyds TSB.
