Construction has commenced on Phase 2 of the industrial and distribution hub, Horizon 29, located in Bolsover, Derbyshire. This new development will consist of two single-storey base build distribution warehouses, units 7 and 8, totaling 249,995 sq ft and 249,866 sq ft respectively. The construction will be carried out by McLaren Construction (Midlands and North) for clients BGO Wire PropCo Ltd and Equation Properties.
Moreover, McLaren (Midlands and North) will also be responsible for all external works including general hard standings, car-parking, landscaping, mains services, and drainage. Sustainable features such as solar PVs, air source heat pumps, LED lighting, and electric vehicle charging points will be incorporated to ensure energy efficiency. The units will be constructed to a BREEAM Rating of ‘Excellent’ and an EPC ‘A’ Rating, with a 49-week build programme for Phase 2.
Gary Cramp, managing director of McLaren Construction (Midlands and North), expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating that Horizon 29 will be a premier distribution center for Derbyshire and the wider East Midlands. Completion of Phase 1A and 1B earlier this year saw the delivery of four warehouse units, marking the successful progress of this landmark scheme.
