Travis Perkins, a Northampton-based builders’ merchant, has appointed Pete Redfern as a Director of the company and Chief Executive Officer effective from 16 September 2024, succeeding Nick Roberts, who will step down on the same day.
With over two decades of leadership, operational, and finance experience in the construction sector, Pete Redfern brings a wealth of knowledge to Travis Perkins. He previously served as the Group Chief Executive of Taylor Wimpey plc for 14 years, overseeing the company’s transformation into one of the largest housebuilders in the UK and its elevation to the FTSE 100.
Having served on the Board of Travis Perkins as a Non-Executive Director for nine years, Pete Redfern has a deep understanding of the company. Jez Maiden, the Interim Chair, expressed his confidence in Pete’s ability to lead the company to success, emphasizing his focus on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and shareholder value creation.
Pete Redfern shared his excitement about taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer, stating his commitment to improving operational performance, efficiency, and cash generation. He also highlighted the importance of developing a strategic direction for the Group in the coming years to capitalize on opportunities in the changing business environment.
Additionally, Geoff Drabble has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Travis Perkins, effective from 1 October 2024, and will assume the role of Chair in due course. With extensive experience in publicly listed businesses, Geoff’s appointment further strengthens the company’s leadership team and positions it for future growth and success in the building materials distribution market.
