The survey, which polled 1,200 workers, revealed that over two-thirds (67.4 percent) of respondents do not use social media while at work. Of those who do, the majority (45 percent) spend no more than 15 minutes engaging with social platforms. Additionally, 56.1 percent of respondents admitted to using smartphones during work, but a substantial 79.8 percent refrain from using technology for personal tasks within work hours.

Interestingly, 39.7 percent of workers confessed to taking time out of their workday to communicate with friends or family via phone, but a majority (73.3 percent) limit these personal calls to 15 minutes or less. Half of the respondents stated that they avoid checking personal emails while at work, and an overwhelming 77.4 percent do not waste time browsing irrelevant sites on the internet during work hours.
Furthermore, the survey indicates that 66.4 percent of employers have established rules regarding personal technology usage. The majority (46.3 percent) prohibit the use of phones at work, while 22.6 percent ban social media and 16.9 percent restrict internet browsing during work hours.

Despite the potential distractions, 87.3 percent of professionals acknowledged the beneficial nature of using technology at work. Respondents cited the ability to connect with customers and clients globally, real-time communication, time-saving capabilities, and flexibility in working locations as key benefits.
