Top Tips for a Better Work-life Balance

According to Xero’s 2017 Make or Break research, more than half (52%) of British small business owners want to take more time off to avoid burnout. This is not surprising given that, when asked how they currently get away from work, just 39% of small business owners acknowledged to being able to take a long vacation, while a significant 18% would prefer to simply continue working from home.

However, according to the survey, company owners understand that routinely recharging the physical (and mental) batteries may have a significant impact on both the body and the bottom line, with 78% saying that their personal well-being is inextricably related to the health of their firm.

To tackle the issue of work-life balance, here are Xero’s top advice for entrepreneurs to make the most of their business and summer this year:

Stay heathy

Eat properly, avoid stimulants, engage in regular exercise, and get plenty of rest. Keeping your body in good shape will help your mind deal with the stresses of running a business. Enjoy natural light as well, as it is beneficial to your mental health and sleeping patterns.

Take all your holidays

Without a vacation, life might feel like a treadmill, which is not the way to operate a business. It is critical to maintain perspective. Don’t forget to encourage your employees to do the same – you’ll get more out of them if they’re well rested and energised.

Schedule your day

Some people work better in the morning, while others work better in the evening. Consider what type of person you are, and store the most difficult tasks for when you are at your mental peak. It’s usually a terrible idea to do intense intellectual work between 2-4pm, so take advantage of this time to get through your administrative to-do list.

Learn to delegate

The most effective corporate managers are those who can delegate the appropriate task to the appropriate people and then leave them to it. If you have difficulty delegating, attempt to improve. Your business will thrive as a result, and you will feel less overwhelmed by your to-do list.

Switch off

Even if it’s difficult to stop continually checking emails, try to set aside time to unwind and shut off from work mode totally. This is especially crucial before going to bed. Although it may appear that there aren’t enough hours in the day to unwind, half an hour with a nice book, TV show, or coffee with a friend will provide the needed refreshment.

Working nonstop will harm both your business and your personal life, so take the time to achieve the perfect work-life balance and give yourself the rest you need.
